Honda Vietnam: A major contribution in the automotive industry

As one of the first brands of the motorcycle and automobile sector to invest in Vietnam, Honda Vietnam has not only brought high quality products to Vietnamese consumers but also contributed positively to the motorcycle automobile industry, as well as the auxiliary industry.

With the operation of 3 motorcycle factories with a total design capacity of 2.5 million vehicles a year and a car factory with a design capacity of 23,000 vehicles a year, Honda Vietnam (HVN) is producing and importing to distribute to the market more than 30 motorcycle models and 6 car models in different vehicle categories, meeting the increasingly diverse needs of customers.

In 2021, in the motorcycle sector, the total sales in the whole year of the company reached 1,992,365 cars, accounting for 79.9% of the domestic market, up by 1% compared to the same period last year. In the automotive sector, total sales in 2021 reached 21,698 cars.

Not only accounted for the majority of the domestic market, Honda Vietnam also boosted the export of motorcycles and spare parts, making Vietnam a “base” for exporting motorcycles to the globe of Honda Group. Honda Vietnam’s motorbikes are available in many major markets in the world such as Japan, Europe, South America, Australia…

Overall, in the first 6 months of 2022 according to the fiscal year (from April 2021 to March 2022), Honda Vietnam’s export output of full-size vehicles (CBU) reached 107,778 vehicles; The total export turnover reached US $229.68 million, including the export of full-size vehicles and spare parts, increased 56.7% compared to the same period last year. And in the first two months of 2022, the total export of motorcycles reached 20,801 vehicles.

Participating in the automotive manufacturing and assembly sector later than some other global brands, since 2006, but with the continuous introduction of new products applying modern and advanced technology, while providing genuine service with the best quality to meet the increasing requirements of customers, Honda automotive brand has made a mark on Vietnamese customers in terms of design, operation, technology, environment and safety.

Throughout the operation of HVN is advanced technology, friendly to people and the environment. At HVN’s production plants, machinery is synchronized, modernized and regularly upgraded to ensure that the factory always uses the most advanced production lines. Create environmentally friendly products, reduce emissions.

According to the evaluation of experts in the field of auxiliary industry, Honda’s motorcycle production chain is considered to be quite successful. Many Vietnamese auxiliary enterprises are now in the company’s production chain of motorcycle components.

Currently, the Company has 140 suppliers of spare parts and components, most of which have been manufactured and supplied in Vietnam with a localization rate of over 90%. This not only helps to increase the cost of highly competitive Honda motorcycles, but also greatly promotes the development of the domestic auxiliary industry as well as creating jobs for sales companies and partners.

According to business representatives, in 2022, in the motorcycle business, the company aims to lead the motorcycle industry to promote market recovery after and even during the COVID-19 pandemic; Maintain the HEAD, HSF, WSS and Honda Mass Vehicle Stores; Increase exports of full vehicles.
